30 metres of plug-in refrigerated display cases for a retail store in Nienburg
Frigo Zika completed a refrigeration equipment project for a store operated by one of Germany’s largest retail chains in Nienburg, Germany, covering an area of approximately 600 m². In just 2.5 days, 30 metres of plug-in refrigerated display cases with doors were installed, with a solution tailored to the requirements of a modern retail environment.
A solution tailored to the store
For this project, the focus was on selecting refrigeration equipment that could provide high display capacity while eliminating the need for a conventional central refrigeration system.
For this reason, a plug-in concept was selected, using a self-contained refrigeration unit with integrated refrigeration components. This solution is particularly attractive for facilities where separating the condensing units is not technically feasible, or where investing in a central system would represent an unnecessary cost relative to the actual requirements of the site.
Thoughtful design for efficient operation
One of the key features of this model is the positioning of the condenser in the upper section of the unit, while the compressor is located at the rear. This design allows for a different arrangement of components compared with standard solutions and contributes to efficient use of available space.
Within its category, the unit also stands out for its large TDA display area, which is particularly important in retail, where effective product presentation is just as important as refrigeration performance itself.
In this case, plug-in technology provides a practical alternative to systems such as CO₂ and Waterloop when their complexity, cost or the technical conditions of the facility do not justify such an investment.
Plug-in technology when a simple and efficient solution is needed
This project demonstrates where plug-in technology can be particularly advantageous: when high refrigeration capacity and display space are required, but there is no technical possibility to separate the condensing units, or when the investment in a more complex central refrigeration system is best avoided.
Fast and precise installation
One of the main challenges of the project was completing the work within a short timeframe. Thanks to efficient team organisation and thorough equipment preparation, the installation was completed in just 2.5 days.
The fast execution allowed the work to be carried out with minimal disruption to operations at the site, which is particularly important for retail chains, where every day operating below full capacity can result in additional costs.
